AGEING: Maceration with selected plants and spices. ALCOHOL: 15%
RATING: 91 Pts. Peñín
Andalusian personality, citrus and spicy aromas, on the palate notes of orange, cinnamon, wood, and the unique memory of bitter almond, classic from the aging under the “velo de flor” veil of flower. A wonderful aperitif drink. Ideal alone or on the rocks. Great companion to pickles, salted fish and all kinds of tapas.
Bodegas Pérez Barquero was founded in 1905 by 3 brothers from Northern Spain. The winery’s oldest solera dates from this year – and there are indeed still some bottles available! Under the direction of cellar master Rafael Córdoba, Pérez Barquero has built an International reputation as the top sherry producer in the appellation, earning numerous awards, including the only 100-Point rating from the Wine Advocate for a sherry. Their vineyards are located in the most valued high quality zones of the Sierra de Montilla and Moriles Alto, where the substratum is very rich in organic remains, allowing for optimal ripening of their grapes.
Elaboration: a vermouth from Andalusia made with Pedro Ximénez grapes from the Sierra de Montilla that rests in the traditional vats of the area to acquire properties from a short but intense biological ageing.
