VARIETALS: 100% Tempranillo from 50-year-old vines in two vineyard plots (Fincas Sacramento y Olmazas ) with chalk and limestone soils yielding 4.5 tons per hectare.
AGEING: 24 months in French & American 225L oak barrels.
ALCOHOL: 14%
Deep ruby color with garnet hues. Intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit combined with cedar and cocoa notes. Medium-to-big body with firm tannins and a long refreshing finish. Drink now or age for up to 10 years. Ideal to pair with stews, lamb, and aged cheeses.
Valdelacierva is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta and has access to more than 125 hectares of vineyard, spread over small plots with old vines ranging in age from 25 to 130 years old in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Valdelacierva can be seen as a rather young, expressive, and dynamic winery producing wines with the unmistakable stamp of the local terroir.
